The Spiritual Gifts: Definitions
Administration:
a gift that enables me to understand what makes an organization function, and to
plan and execute procedures that increase the church’s effectiveness.
Apostleship: a gift that enables me to
cross various barriers to reach people with the deeds and messages of the
Gospel.
Counseling: a gift that enables me to
listen to and observe people with discernment and assist them in their quest for
spiritual, emotional and relational wholeness.
Craftsmanship: a gift that enables me to
facilitate ministry through the creative design and construction of tools,
materials and other resources.
Creative Communication: a gift
that enables me to communicate God’s truth with effect through various art
forms.
Discernment: a gift that enables me to
distinguish between truth and error, and to assess integrity of character and
motivation.
Encouragement: a gift that enables me to
motivate and challenge others and to reassure, strengthen and affirm those who
are discouraged or lagging in faith or spirit.
Evangelism: a gift that enables me to
connect with unbelievers, communicating the message of the Gospel with
consistent effect, maintaining a passion for lost people.
Faith: a gift that enables me to trust God with
unwavering belief and hope for a certain outcome.
Giving: a gift that enables me to contribute to
the work of the Lord without hesitation or misgiving.
Healing: a gift that enables me to be God’s
channel to restore people to wholeness.
Helps: a gift that enables me to feel fulfilled
in the accomplishment of practical and necessary tasks which are often unnoticed
or avoided by others.
Hospitality: a gift that enables me to care
for people by providing "welcome", fellowship, food or shelter.
Knowledge: a gift that enables me to be
familiar with details or situations without receiving primary or secondary
information.
Leadership: a gift that enables me to
acquire a vision for ministry and instill it in others, and motivate and direct
them in its realization.
Mercy: a gift that enables me to respect and care
for people who are needy and neglected.
Prophecy: a gift that enables me to proclaim
God’s truth with power and clarity in a timely and culturally pertinent way.
Shepherding: a gift that enables me to
guide, care for and nurture individuals or groups of people in their spiritual
growth.
Teaching :
a gift that enables me to understand, clearly explain and apply God’s Word to
the lives of learners.
Wisdom: a gift that enables me to apply
spiritual insight to specific lives or situations.
